Community Updates

To keep communities informed about the environment and Diavik, EMAB organizes annual public meetings in the communities. We usually give an hour-long presentation, followed by a question and answer period and discussion. It's also usual for us to host a feast immediately after the public meeting.

Updates 2020-2021
EMAB did not hold a community update during this time. Our community involvement was affected by the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Updates 2019-2020
EMAB held a community update with the NSMA by teleconference in March 2020. Community involvement during this time was affected by the global Covid-19 pandemic. 

Updates 2018-2019
EMAB held a Board meeting in Lutselk'e in December 2018 to work on development of a fiver-year action plan. The Board also held a public meeting and a feast. We heard a lot of interest about the mines closure plans. 

Updates 2017-2018
EMAB, NSMA, and the NWT Cumulative Impact Monitoring Program held a joint community update in January 2018.

Updates 2016-2017
EMAB attended a Closure Plan Update hosted by Diavik in Ndilo in April 2017 to observe and assess the process.

Updates 2015-2016
EMAB gave a community update in Kugluktuk in May 2016. 

Updates 2014-2015
EMAB gave a community update in Kugluktuk in June 2015 and in Lutsel K'e in February 2015.

Updates 2010-2011
EMAB gave a community update in Lutsel K'e in February 2011 and in Kugluktuk in March 2011. 

Updates 2009-2010

EMAB updated the communities of Lutselk'e and Kugluktuk, and the North Slave Metis Alliance in 2010.

Lustel K'e Dene First Nation and the Kitikmeot Inuit Association were updated in 2009.

EMAB updated the communities of Lutselk’e, Dettah/Ndilo, and Kugluktuk in 2008 and 2009. 

Updates 2007-2008

EMAB updated Behchoko, Lutselk’e, Kugluktuk, Wek’weeti and Gameti.

Updates 2006-2007

EMAB updated the North Slave Metis Alliance and Lutsel K'e.

Updates 2005-2006

Environmental updates took place in Behchoko and Lutselk’e.
